designed to help people make positive and significant changes to their lives in a relatively short period of time. As the therapy is solution focused the emphasis is on the present and future and on what you want to achieve. The use of hypnotherapy and guided visualisation encourages a focus on the positive aspects of life and promotes a deep state of relaxation. The hypnotic state is similar to daydreaming,  or what some psychologists refer to as a state of ‘flow’ where you are completely absorbed but still aware of the surroundings and of everything that is going on. It is a very calming, relaxing and re-energising experience.

'I was in a desperate state  when I first saw Nicola, with a negative mindset and spiralling into a deep depression.  After the sessions she has turned my life around now I am far more positive and I have started to like myself.  She is a marvel and has given me the precious gift of my mojo back!!'

'It is clear now looking back I have suffered with insomnia from a young age. It slowly spiralled out of control and turned into a viscous circle because I simply didn't know where to start on how to change this pattern. It was great talking things through with Nicola saying things out loud was of great benefit. Using the relaxation techniques as advised and knowledge gained about how the mind works changed the pattern significantly. I am so grateful to Nicola. I know I can take and use the techniques anytime in the future if needs be.

What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

I have been fortunate to have regular sessions of therapy with Nicola following the loss of a close family member and a change in my workplace role.
I look forward to these sessions and leave feeling completed relaxed and with a feeling of well being. I have successfully used the techniques Nicola has taught me in a range of potentially stressful situation.
I find Nicola knowledgeable, supportive and easy to talk to and would recommend her to anyone looking for this kind of therapy.

What happens during a session?

All sessions (with the exception of smoking cessation) begin with an initial consultation during which the nature of the problem is explored and understood. A complementary CD or MP3 file will be made available for you to practise relaxing in the comfort of your own home. Further sessions last for up to an hour and consist of a combination of solution focused problem solving techniques and hypnosis, bringing together both the conscious and unconscious parts of your mind to generate positive and lasting change.

Hypnotherapy can also be conducted online via the internet. Please see the page Online Hypnotherapy for more information.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required will vary depending upon your individual needs but the aim is to promote rapid change. Most issues such as depression and generalised anxiety may take 8-12 sessions (sometimes more), whilst simple phobia ( fear of things like dogs, flying, spiders etc) can be helped in just 4 sessions.  Smoking cessation is a one off session lasting up to 2 hours.
